Not all RAM is usable Windows 10/8/7 - How to fix. High memory usage?: 🤍 Fix Windows 10 not using full RAM: Many users have reported that their system fails to utilize installed available memory instead only a portion of memory is displayed in Task Manager and only that memory is usable by Windows. The main question remains that where are the other part of memory gone? Well, before answering this question let’s see what actually happens, for example, a user have 8 GB installed RAM but only 6 GB is usable and displayed in Task Manager. RAM (Random Access Memory) is a computer storage devices which is frequently used to store the type of data that is being used by Operating System increase the general speed of a system. Once you shutdown your system all the data in the RAM is erased as it’s a temporary storage device and is used for faster access to data. Having more amount of RAM ensures that your system will run smoothly and will have a good performance as more RAM would be available to store more files for faster access. But having a good amount of RAM but not being able to use it is very annoying for anyone and that’s what the case here. You have programs and games that required a minimum amount of RAM to run but again you won’t be able to run these program as you have less available RAM (even though you have installed a large amount of memory). Why Windows 10 not using full RAM? In some cases some portion of RAM is a system reserved, also sometimes some amount of memory is also reserved by Graphic Card is you have an integrated one. But if you have a dedicated Graphic Card then this shouldn’t be a problem. Obviously, 2% of RAM is always free for example if you 4GB RAM installed then usable memory would be between 3.6GB or 3.8GB which is perfectly normal. The above case for users who have installed 8GB RAM but only 4GB or 6GB is available in Task Manager or System Properties. Also, in some cases, BIOS can reserve some amount of RAM making them unusable by Windows. Windows 8 and Windows 10 Ready Boost feature relies on fast speed USB drives to operate as a swap file storage, where the operating system can store your RAM temporarily. Regardless of your RAM size, Windows will automatically allocate some amount of disk space for the swap file. Super old PCs with low RAM (aka 2GB, 4GB, 8GB) and a spinning hard drive could benefit from a much faster USB storage (compared to the spinning hard drive) to store the swap file. This feature should no longer exist, as RAM os super cheap nowadays. But there are still those who could use this feature. If you're one of those people, who have a fast USB thumb drive lying around, you might see a tangible performance boost (if your drive is supported), in lieu of buying more RAM. Remember, if you have the money for a USB drive and for RAM, you're ALWAYS better off adding more RAM than doing this. Even if your RAM is only in a single channel mode.

How To Use Virtual RAM Using Empty Hard Disk Space - Make Computer Considerably Faster Does your computer lag often and are stuck with a slow system? This video may help you out. This tutorial will show you how your computer faster without having to actually install a physical RAM and using Hard Disk space as Virtual RAM. This will be especially useful for those who have limited memory to begin with and are looking to put a little bit more life into their computer. This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops,and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung). Information about virtual memory: Virtual memory is a common part of most operating systems on desktop computers. It has become so common because it provides a big benefit for users at a very low cost. In this tutorial, you will learn exactly what virtual memory is, what your computer uses it for and how to configure it on your own machine to achieve optimal performance. Most computers today have something like 32 or 64 megabytes of RAM available for the CPU to use (see How RAM Works for details on RAM). Unfortunately, that amount of RAM is not enough to run all of the programs that most users expect to run at once. For example, if you load the operating system, an e-mail program, a Web browser and word processor into RAM simultaneously, 32 megabytes is not enough to hold it all. If there were no such thing as virtual memory, then once you filled up the available RAM your computer would have to say, "Sorry, you can not load any more applications. Please close another application to load a new one." With virtual memory, what the computer can do is look at RAM for areas that have not been used recently and copy them onto the hard disk. This frees up space in RAM to load the new application. Because this copying happens automatically, you don't even know it is happening, and it makes your computer feel like is has unlimited RAM space even though it only has 32 megabytes installed. Because hard disk space is so much cheaper than RAM chips, it also has a nice economic benefit. The read/write speed of a hard drive is much slower than RAM, and the technology of a hard drive is not geared toward accessing small pieces of data at a time. If your system has to rely too heavily on virtual memory, you will notice a significant performance drop. The key is to have enough RAM to handle everything you tend to work on simultaneously then, the only time you "feel" the slowness of virtual memory is is when there's a slight pause when you're changing tasks. When that's the case, virtual memory is perfect. When it is not the case, the operating system has to constantly swap information back and forth between RAM and the hard disk. This is called thrashing, and it can make your computer feel incredibly slow. The area of the hard disk that stores the RAM image is called a page file. It holds pages of RAM on the hard disk, and the operating system moves data back and forth between the page file and RAM. On a Windows machine, page files have a .SWP extension. This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops,and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, and Samsung.
