Important Update! Check out 3.3v voltage fix for this device. It can help to prevent possible use issues like with reading or programming a target BIOS chip, or in the worst case prevent possible damage to the target device: 🤍 So some time ago I was messing around with BIOS modding and BIOS files. I was trying to give unique names to old 775 motherboards and accidentally broke my backup ASUS P5E3 Premium motherboard. As the motherboard has only single BIOS chip and it is a soldered one, and no BIOS flashback utility the ways to get it working again are quite limited. The motherboard does have some built-in recovery thingy but I couldn't get it to work. So the easiest way to fix a motherboard like that is to obtain an external BIOS flashing tool. Popular ones that I know of are the CH341A that is easily available from China like from eBay for example, or Elmor EVC2. I got the CH341A earlier so used that one in this case. The external tool connects to the target BIOS chip with SOIC8 test clips that are quite hard to attach correctly. You need a separate computer to flash the target BIOS chip with. I recommend using a laptop and the NeoProgrammer tool I discovered at the end of this project. The flashing procedure might take a while so don't get confused if it is slow. New Second channel: 🤍 The CH341a Mini Programmer is a super cheap BIOS chip programmer that I've wanted to cover for a while now, but there's a problem with it. While the chip socket is powered at the correct 3.3v, the _data lines_ are pulled up to 5v, which is way too hot. Modifications to run the controller chip off of the 3.3v rail are fairly straight forward, and fix the problem completely. In diesem Video versuche ich mit dem "CH341A BIOS Programmer" den Lenovo G710 Laptop wieder zu "beleben". Mit dem CH341A USB Programmer kann man den BIOS und den EC Chip manuell beschreiben. Es wird nur eine bin Datei vorausgesetzt. Leider gelingt es mir nicht in dem Video den Lenovo G710 wieder herzustellen.

Программатор CH341A – для EEPROM 24, 25 серии, вместе с адаптером 1,8 В и прищепкой-зажимом для программирования - добрался за 40 дней. Все в одном пакете. Трек-номер отслеживался только в Китае. У программатора CH341A - качество приемлемое, правда есть потеки от пайки с кислотой. Надо мыть спиртом. Очень удобен для разного рода программирования, можно сказать, универсальный в связке с другими приспособами. 1.8 В адаптер для программирования микросхем TL866CS TL866A EZP2010 EZP2013 CH341 - надо мыть спиртом, уж много грязи оставили. Eccoci alla guida finalmente per utilizzare la pennetta USB CH341A. Ricordo che questa pennetta usb ha anche varie funzioni per flashare chip diversi e di altro tipo, ma questa guida è focalizzata sul flash del chip sp25 e quindi in questo video si vedrà solo questo metodo di utilizzo. Questa guida è applicabile ad ogni scheda video o scheda madre o qualsiasi cosa abbia un chip SP25. Non sono state maltrattate schede video durante l esecuzione di questo filmato :) e sono state gentilmente donate (2) per questo video. L utente che me le ha mandate ha (ucciso) la scheda numero 1 delle due sulla 9300 quindi non veniva più rilevata ma ne vedeva soltanto una. As my CH341A video was quite popular when I repaired the ASUS P5E3 Premium using this device, I thought about sharing this 3.3v voltage fix with you my followers. The issue with the CH341A is that not all of the pins that are connected to the target BIOS chip output 3.3v, actually half of the pins output 5V when most of the BIOS chips are rated for 3.3v. This can cause issues when you try to access BIOS chips using this device, and in the worst case it could damage the target BIOS chip completely. I came across noticing this when I messed around with the X79-UD7 BIOS downgrade. I encountered this mod on VoltLog's channel here on Youtube, so big thumbs up to their finding and check out their video: 🤍 The idea of the process is to reverse engineer the device and make the CH341A controller chip of the device to operate at 3.3v instead of the stock 5 volts. This happens by lifting the VCC pin (pin 28) and soldering that lifted pin to the center leg of the U1 mosfet, the side that has 3 legs on that component. Then on top of that you need to solder another wire from the opposite side of the U1 mosfet to Pin-9 of the CH341A chip. This time you don't need to lift the target pin of the CH341A. After this all of the data lines should output 3.3v instead of 5V and the device should work flawlessly. You can confirm the voltages by inserting the device to laptop or power bank USB port and by measuring the voltages with a multimeter, even before and after this modification.
