Last week, I reviewed the Ender-3 S1 Pro, and many of you suggested that I make a comparison between the Ender-3 S1 Pro and the Prusa MK3S+. Like many people have said, the Prusa MK3S+ is the gold standard for hobbyist 3D printers. It uses many brand-name parts, the print quality is really good, the print speed is relatively fast, and it uses the Prusa slicer tailormade for Prusa Printers. It provides a full package for 3D printing. Last year, I made a video comparing the Prusa MK3S+ with the basic Ender-3 pointing out the differences based on the hardware cost. If you are interested in seeing that video, I put a link down below. When people ask me if they should buy the Prusa MK3S+ or the new Ender 3 S1 Pro, there is no simple answer. It all depends on your budget, what you are looking for, and what is important to you. The new printer from Creality comes with a 300mm x 300mm x 300mm print volume, it assembles in 30 minutes, has Firmware Bed Leveling with a touch sensor, filament runout detection and it's easy to use. Best of all it works right out of the box. No upgrades or modifications needed. To everyone who thinks Prusa is still dominant: Have you see what Creality is doing? I bought the Prusa a while ago, 7 weeks to be exact, in that time i recieved the FLSUN Q5 and its a printer that really blew me away. The quality and dependability i was getting off the Q5 was amazing, far better than i thought possible at this price point. Seeing this, it got me thinking, did i over pay from my Prusa given how well this little $275 printer is. Well i printed some models on both and the result was pretty interesting.
The Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro should be the most capable 3D printer I’ve reviewed so far. As well as your standard PLA and PETG it can print engineering grade materials like Nylon and Polycarbonate and it comes with many features that make it easy to use including a spring steel removable print surface, an all metal direct drive extruder, automatic bed levelling, a touch screen and it even has a handy LED lamp built in. I’ll test all its claims, printing a range of models in a variety of materials to try and help you decide if this printer is right for you. If you’re new to 3D printing I’d highly recommend watching at least some of my earlier video that introduces 3D printing with the budget Creality Ender 3: 🤍 So let’s take a closer look. The Creality Ender 3 S1 Plus is a really great printer that gets uncomfortably close to the overall performance of the Prusa MK3S, which is my gold standard. Overall, it's just a bit less polished and not as well thought-out, but it produces great print quality and doesn't have any significant drawbacks. I was very surprised with the printer overall, and you'd have a hard time justifying almost twice the price for a Prusa. The Ender 3 S1 series would be great for beginners to 3D printers, anyone looking to upgrade from an entry level printer, or someone looking to add a reliable and high quality second printer. Last December, I reviewed the Ender-3 S1. It was the most advanced Creality printer I have ever used. It is packed with all the updated features you can expect from a new generation printer and the print quality is outstanding. Last week, PerGear sent me this new Ender-3 S1 Pro to review. When I first looked at the specs, it looked like it was just an Ender-3 S1 with a high-temperature hotend that heats up to 300 degrees to print Nylon, Nylon Carbon Fiber, and other high-temperature filaments. However, it is actually much more than that. Some upgrades are obvious and some are just small details. In this video, I will take a closer look at its hardware, do some test prints to see how it prints right out of the box, and talk about what I like and what can be improved on this printer. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was that it came with many brand name parts, including a Delta PSU, an Einsy Rambo motherboard, Misumi bearings, Bondtech gear, TMC2130 stepper drivers, and a genuine E3D hotend. You may ask even if it came with some brand name parts, is it worth $750? Let’s find out how much it would cost if buying an Ender 3, and add the price of all these brand name parts and see what number we finally come up with. Creality has recently lowered the price of the Ender-3 from $179 to $155. So, we will start with $155 to get a very basic 3D printer without any brand name parts... If we buy all these parts, it will cost us $478. If you add the price of a basic Ender-3, it will cost around $633. Since the retail price of the Prus MK3S+ is $750, you’re paying $120 more for the Prusa brand, the Prusa slicer that’s made for the Prusa printer, and other convenient features that I will talk about later...
